Burnt / pokerwork matryoshka / nesting doll / Russian doll
The first matryoshka (nesting doll) in this ‘burnt’ or pokerwork style developed from the original pen-decorated matryoshka in Sergiey Posad. Most of this style is still produced here. This set was produced in a village 150km south-east of Sergeyev Posad. It is decorated in an elaborate flower pattern with a pinafore in shades of blue or mauve (pink). It is a rarer matryoshka and would make a great collectors item.
